Candle Care
A simple guide to caring for your new candle.
Lighting for the first time.
The first time you light your new candle let it burn until the wax has fully melted to the edge h of the container. Always light your candle where the wick meets the wax, not at the top of the wick.
Avoid ‘tunnelling’.
Your candle may experience a term know as tunnelling if you only burn the candle for a short period of time when you first light it. This is where the wax of the candle will form a ring round the wick, the next time you light the candle it will only melt across as far as you let it the first time. To avoid this, light the candle for an hour initially.
Keep your wick trimmed.
It is important to keep the wick trimmed, ideally with a wick trimmer, to a quarter of an inch by snapping off the excess using a wick trimmer. Keep the candle wax free from any loose wax trimmings.
Only burn for 2-3 hours a time.
Light your candle for no longer than 2 - 3 hrs at a time. Once extinguished the scent will still linger and fill the room.
Place the location of your candle somewhere safe.
Never place your candles near anything that could catch fire and always place them on a heat resistant dry surface. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting, or handling.
Never burn it down to the bottom of the tin.
Never burn your candle all the way to the bottom of the container, as this may cause the container to over heat and get too hot.
Never leave unattended.
Always light your candle where the wick meets the wax, not at the top of the wick. leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep away from children & pets.
Keep candles away from flammable liquids, and out of reach of children and pets.
Storing the candle.
Once you finish burning your candle place the lid back on to keep the scent locked in.
